After being impressed by the Guhong Pro, I was curious to see if Dayan’s first 5x5 would blow me away. The cube feels like if an MGC 5x5 and TengYun V2 had a baby—fast, airy, and pleasantly quiet. Magnet strength in all layers feels fine and tactile.
Unfortunately, performance takes a hit in the stability department. I get fairly frequent lockups, even after tensioning. Corner-cutting is decent but unforgiving—overshoot a tad bit too much and you're getting a lockup. On top of that, the center caps fall off far too easily—superglue fixes it, but that shouldn't even be an issue in the first place especially with a pricetag of $50 CAD.
Released in 2022, it doesn’t hold up against modern flagships in 2025. It’s a decent mid-tier cube, but you’re better off going with something like the MGC 5x5 or AoChuang V6 Single-Track. I’d only recommend it if you're collecting or already have top-tier cubes and want something different to try.
